Since 2019, the Balkan Speleological Union (BSU) has been an affiliated member of the International Union of Speleology (UIS), strengthening its role in international cooperation and contributing to the global speleological community. 

In 2011, the Balkan Speleological Union (BSU) entered into a formal partnership with the European Speleological Federation (FSE), approved unanimously at the FSE's General Assembly. Since then, the two organizations have jointly supported major events in the region.
